These three pieces: The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, and Mysterious Island were all done in the year before Daddy's Home. For these pieces, I worked from borrowed motion picture stills and from photos taken directly from television. I enjoy the use of color, the flatter, more graphic style with the heavy lines around each element, but I prefer the more 3 dimensional appearance of my other work. These pieces were all suggested by Rod Bennett and the Jason piece was one he encouraged me to do for invitations for a special showing in honor of the Jason and the Argonauts anniversary party showing at his house. One of the invitations went to his friend Ray Harryhausen, who is of course the animation talent behind all three movies! (Select the image to see a larger version of each painting)
